Say Podcast and Die!

This podcast talks about the book’s plot in a chumcast format hosted by Andy Crow and Alyssa Greene. What we really like is that they go into depth about the sub-genres of horror and similar works which the book analysed reminds them of, all done in an entertaining way.

If you like listening to something a little more highbrow, but want to avoid a dry academic lecture, this is the podcast for you!

Goosebumps: Welcome to DeadCast

These hilarious twins make for a great listening experience. Taking the format of another chumcast, they mostly discuss the entire plot of the stories in a very camp and over-the-top way. Like with Say Podcast and Die, if you hate spoilers, definitely read the book the episode covers before listening.

They also cover the Give Yourself Goosebumps books and dedicate an episode to each short story of the Tales to Give You Goosebumps. It is also interesting to see which stories they speculate to be ghostwritten by Stine, as this is something we did not consider before listening.

R.L. Stine’s Story Club

Mainly aimed at kids, this podcast features stories that R. L. Stine has “collected but never turned into books”. The episodes are short and dramatised (except for the Ivy’s Chilling Tales series on the same podcast which are narrated and not dramatised). Hosted by Ivy, she gives a quick introduction and then follows the story.

What is good about this podcast is that the stories are very ‘Stine’ in style, and always end with a twist. However, being an adult, you may find the tone of voice a little cringy. I guess that’s what happens when you get old!

Goosebuds

Another chumcast hosted by Paul Ritchey, Chan Quandt and Kevin Cole, these guys cover the summary of the Goosebumps books. Much like in Welcome to DeadCast, they go into depth of the summary of the books, making a tonne of references to other things ’90s.

Additionally, they have covered other book franchises in a small number of episodes, such as Animorphs, and have made episodes of lesser-known create-your-own-adventure books. Scarily funny stuff! Again, beware of spoilers!

Calling All Creeps: A Goosebumps Literary Review

Covering mostly Goosebumps books, hosts with the most Matt and Dave go into the summary of the books like in most of these podcasts. This chumcast also reviews the books, delivered with an f-load of f-bombs, innuendo, and great comedy.

Again, listen to this before reading the book, if spoilers f*** you off.

Other Things to Check Out

R.L. Stine is an Artist on Spotify

No, Stine is not the lead vocals in a metal band! However, you can find many of his books (from the newest range of audiobook productions) on Spotify.

Having a Spotify subscription is recommended, as you will not have a great experience listening to these chapters randomised amongst adverts. One drawback, however, is that you will not be able to pause exactly where you stopped listening, like on Audible. Your progress will not be saved. So screenshotting where you left off is going to help!

Books in this series come from the original Goosebumps, Goosebumps: Horrorland and Goosebumps: SlappyWorld. Great for those drives to and from work!
