Bart’s Twilight Zone Painting Intros Treehouse of Horror IV posted by Artoon

The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror IV (Season 5, Episode 5) — October 28, 1993

This is a firm fan-fave amongst Treehouse of Horror fans. The first story, The Devil and Homer Simpson, sees Homer sell his soul for a donut (instantly regretting it).

Terror at 5½ Feet riffs on The Twilight Zone as Bart spots a gremlin tearing apart the school bus.

Finally, Bart Simpson’s Dracula turns Mr. Burns into a Nosferatu-style vampire in one of the show’s most iconic spooky parodies (Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)). This is peak ’90s Halloween Simpsons.

Geoffrey Butler Gets A Laugh on Halloween posted by CELTIC_FAN34

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: Hex and the Single Guy (Season 4, Episode 7) — October 31, 1994

With a title that’s a pun on the book Sex and the Single Girl (1962), in this episode, Hilary takes the family to a psychic for a séance to say farewell to Trevor. Will is sceptical about the psychic and mocks him. As a result, the psychic curses him, and negative events occur later that day. Is it just bad luck, or is Will truly under the psychic’s spell?

Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace posted by Bart Zombie

The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror VI (Season 7, Episode 6) — October 29, 1995

In Attack of the 50-Foot Eyesores, giant advertising mascots come to life and rampage through Springfield.

Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace sees Groundskeeper Willie haunting the kids’ dreams, in a pitch-perfect parody of A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Finally, Homer³ (or Homer Cubed) dives into experimental 3D animation, sending Homer into another dimension — literally. I would put this one forward as probably one of the most inventive 90s Halloween episodes the show ever produced.

The Haunted Mask – ORIGINAL FOX PREMIERE (Oct 27, 1995) posted by The Goosebumps Channel

Goosebumps: The Haunted Mask (Parts 1 & 2) (Season 1, Episodes 1–2) — October 27, 1995

The Haunted Mask was a big hit for Fox, however, it wasn’t the network’s most popular Halloween show. That honour goes to The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror V, which premiered on October 30, 1994 and drew more than 10 million viewers.

The Haunted Mask, with 7.9 million viewers in the United States and an 8.2 Nielsen rating, has earned the title of one of the most iconic Halloween episodes of the 1990s.

The two-part tale follows introverted Carly Beth, who buys a scary Halloween mask to exact revenge on her tormentors, only to discover it fused to her face. What begins as a confidence boost quickly turns into a disturbing identity problem. With creepy realistic effects, a dark moral edge, and an unforgettable twist finale, this 1990s Halloween episode defined a generation of children’s terror.

Halloween Prank- King of the Hill posted by Artoon

In Hilloween, the Hill family and the people of Arlen prepare for Halloween, but opposing views on the event cause problems in the neighbourhood. Hank wants to celebrate with his typical blend of fun and tradition, but others have their own plans, posing problems for trick-or-treaters and community festivities.

Tricks and Treats and Spooky Schemes posted by Everybody Loves Raymond

Everybody Loves Raymond: Halloween Candy (Season 3, Episode 6) — October 26, 1998

Ray’s attempt to spend some alone time with Debra is thwarted when they run out of condoms. Debra jokes that a vasectomy could make life easier. Ray considers it after speaking with friends at Nemo’s Pizza, but eventually decides against it.

Later, while organizing a post-trick-or-treat Halloween night, Ray purchases an entire box of colorful condoms. Unfortunately, when they’re out with the kids, Frank mistakes the contents of the box as chocolate coins …

South Park (Korn Performs) posted by BlindMelonArchives

South Park: Korn’s Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery (Season 3, Episode 10) — October 27, 1999

South Park‘s Halloween takes a spooky turn when nu-metal band Korn arrives in town for a radio-sponsored (KOZY 102.1) “Halloween Haunt”, which is met by objections from the self-righteous Priest Maxi.

Meanwhile, the lads become engrossed in their own bizarre prank involving a dug-up corpse, ghost sightings, and Cartman’s perplexity over an adult “gift.” What follows is a spoof of Scooby-Doo mysteries, small-town hysteria, and moral panic, complete with ghost mayhem, misfired heroes, and one of South Park’s most outrageous Halloween finales.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Fear Itself (Season 4, Episode 4) — October 26, 1999

In Fear, Itself, Buffy and the gang attend a college Halloween party in the hopes of having a normal night, but the celebration rapidly turns bizarre as the group becomes imprisoned in a house that appears to feed on their anxieties.

With tensions building and everyone isolated by their own fears, Buffy is forced to confront both external threats and her own uncertainties.

In our final addition to this list of ’90s Halloween episode recommendations, it’s Halloween in Point Place.
